Iron Kids out in force
Triathlon at St. David's USNAS, with a total of 179 youngsters having registered for the event.
That figure beats the previous high of 174 set last year.
Of the 179 entered, 108 will be involved in the 7-10 age groups, including 34 girls and 74 boys, while 71 (21 girls, 50 boys) are listed among the 11-14 age groups.
In addition all but one of last year's winners have signed up to take part in the combination swim-bike-run competition, the exception being Laura Farge who captured honours in the 13-year-old category.
"It will be a very exciting time,'' said event official Neil de Ste. Croix yesterday. "All of the younger groups should be hotly contested this year.'' For those between 7-10 the course will involve a 100 metre swim followed by a two-and-a-half mile cycle and end with a 1 mile run, while the 11-14-year-olds encounter a 200 metre swim, five mile cycle and one mile run. The competition gets underway at 9.30 a.m..
