Short courses mar season finale
as they started -- with victories in the national championships at Ferry Reach on Saturday.
But their respective wins were marred by complaints over the distance of the two courses.
Bermuda Track and Field Association had promised to provide a men's course of over seven miles and one of about five miles for the women as the event was intended as a qualifier for next February's CAC Championships to be hosted by Bermuda on the Belmont golf course.
But the women's course proved to be less than two miles with winner Fisher barely breaking into a sweat as she crossed the line in 12 minutes and five seconds. It was by far the shortest of any of the women's courses run this season.
The men also were short-changed with their course no more than five and a half miles.
After shrugging off an early challenge from Mike Watson, Wright romped home in 32 minutes and four seconds.
Errol Cormack followed in 32.23 while Brett Forgesson (32.27) and Jamal Hart (32.45) filled the next two positions with Watson (33.06) slipping back to fifth.
First Master was Mike Whalley (36.12) with Jim Butterfield following in 36.50.
Fisher, like Wright unbeaten in cross country this season, won her event by over 40 seconds from Julia Hawley (12.47) with Melanie Claude (12.57) a further 10 seconds back.
Midge Oliver was first Master in 14.57.
