Touche Road Relay, there really was never any doubt about the ouctome.

Sheldon Thompson, Jay Donawa, Kavin Smith and Jamal Hart, as fast a foursome as any on the Island, were ahead from start to finish, increasing their lead on all but the last of the four three-mile legs.

On a windswept Clearwater Beach course, Donawa clocked the fastest time of the day -- 16 minutes and seven seconds -- but all of his three team-mates also ducked under 17 minutes, a feat achieved by only two other runners, Brett Forgesson (16.40) and Andrew Doble (16.45) of the second-placed MAAC Cheeseburgers.

After Thompson established the early advantage, clocking 16.44, Donawa took the team further ahead, leaving Smith (16.19) and Hart (16.57) to cruise home in a winning time of one hour, six minutes and seven seconds.

The Mid Atlantic Athletic Club quartet of Steve Donnelly (17.21), Neil De Ste Croix (17.47), Andrew Doble (16.45) and Forgesson were more than two minutes back in second place in 1:08.33.

Third place overall in 1:14.31 and the first mixed team were Two Beauties, Two Beasts -- Colin Swan (17.02), Jane Christie (19.59), Karen Adams (19.08) and Harry Patchett (18.22).

The first schoolboy team, Berkeley Panthers, finished a creditable fourth overall, Nadir Wade, Delmari Scott, Nasir Wade and Jelani Scott combining for a time of 1:20.49.

The only all-female team was that of Donna Watson, Sherry wade, Penelope butterfield and Jeanna Jones who finished eighth overall in 1:23.26.

A separate relay for primary schoolchildren saw the Port Royal Pitbulls (Coyatito Smith, Trovaughn Smith, Lamont Butterfield and Kenton Trott) take victory in 24.24 over four legs of a one mile course.
