The first event in what's scheduled to be a busy month of road racing takes place in Sandys this Sunday with the annual Five Flat Miles race.
Sponsored by Mutual Risk Management and organised by the West End Athletic Club, the race takes runners from Watford Bridge out to Dockyard and back again to the finish line at Somerset Police Club.
An event for walkers begins at 9.00 a.m. with the runners following at 9.30.
A week later (March 16) sees the Lindo's five miler in Devonshire followed on Sunday, March 23 by the Evian 10 mile race.
Meanwhile, the annual Pro Shop races for children are scheduled for next Saturday (March 15) at Police Field in Prospect. A series of races are planned, including a fun run for toddlers and age group events for children up to the age of 12.
JUNIOR GOLF GLF Chaka DeSilva extended his winning streak in junior golf last weekend, winning BJGA group five with an 81 over the Ocean View course. Two shots back was Fraser Hunt with Neil Fenton third on 85.
In group four, Chris Brough beat Oliver Pitcher on retrogression after both fired 84, five better than third-placed Ryan Mello.
Scott Roy led the way in group three with 87 followed by Kwame Caisey on 90 and Doug Markey on 94. And in group two Ted Terceira carded 63 over 13 holes to beat Jarryd Dillas (65) and William Tucker (72).
Group one over nine holes saw Steven Roy take the honours on 43, edging Trevor Mills on retrogression. Zachary Simmons was three back on 46.
The novices played at Belmont where Laura Robinson led the field with 30 over six holes followed by Thomas Edwards (31) and Romano Dill (32). Among the novice B players at Riddell's Bay, Darius Gordyk fired 26 over five holes to win by four over Daniel Augustus (30) who edged out Richard Weare on retrogression.
