George's at Sea Breeze Oval tomorrow, knowing that the title could hinge on the result.

There are still five matches remaining in the Overs League, but St. George's have dominated their opponents so much this season in that and other competitions that they are threatening to win all the trophies available to them.

Western Stars, earlier thought to be one of the teams to beat, have lost three times to the east enders, whose toughest challenge now looks like coming from Bailey's Bay.

St. George's have already beaten Bay in the Open Competition, but Bay are determined to bounce back with a win and knock their opponents from the ranks of the unbeaten.

"It's very important we stop them this weekend,'' said Bay captain Charlie Marshall whose team holds down top spot on net run rate over St. George's after two games.

"This is the league championship this Sunday, whoever wins this game will definitely win the league.

"St. George's are definitely on a high right now and I feel it's going to be a great game. My players are looking forward to this game with St. George's and to the biggest upset of the season.'' Marshall feels Bay have what it takes to hand St. George's that first loss.

"I'm looking forward to my players holding the catches,'' said the skipper.

"Every week we miss a valuable batsman who goes on and scores big runs. I personally feel that St. George's can be beaten this weekend.'' Bay will welcome back dashing left-hander Glenn Blakeney after missing last weekend because of a shoulder injury. His return gives Bay greater depth in their batting and with St. George's also solid in that department a high scoring match should result.

"This is a normal season for Bailey's Bay, we normally pull our socks up in mid-season,'' said Marshall.

"County (Eastern Counties) is around the corner and I'm finding out that a lot of the players' attitudes have changed. Everybody wants to play county and I'm sure they will give me 100 percent.'' At the bottom of the standings, Warwick and Devonshire Rec. face tough outings as they try to gain their first wins in the Overs.

Warwick are at home at Southampton Oval to defending champions Western Stars while Devonshire, who defaulted last weekend against Southampton Rangers when only six players showed up, will be hoping for a better response for their home match with Police.

In the other match St. David's are at home to Willow Cuts. Both teams have a 1-1 record.

Today, Western Stars will be looking to stop Police from ending a second season as Central Counties champions when they meet them in the final at Police Field.

Stars lost the cup to Police in the final of the 1996 series and are desperate to regain it, though they can expect stiff competition from the holders. The winners will also play in the Champion of Champions which returns in September.
