BBA honour Hubbard

Bermuda Bicycle Association. The award was made at a ceremony held at Marriott Castle Harbour Hotel on Sunday.

Hubbard, who enjoyed his best year ever on the French cycling circuit, also made a big impression at the Commonwealth Games in August when his 24th place finish was the best ever for a local cyclist in a world class event.

Among the many other awards presented, the Most Improved Cyclist-of-the-Year went to MacInnes Looby, who made a dramatic rise through the local rankings in his first competitive season.

Dana Henry captured the prize as the 1994 Grand Prix overall champion, while Greg Hopkins was rewarded for being the top time triallist and Mike Lee emerged as the Road Race Series champ.

A revived women's division saw Margaret Hateley take both the Time Trial Series and Road Race Series, while placing third in the Grand Prix, won by Melanie Claude.

Leading novice was Durwood Cann and Richard Mason the most consistent veteran.

Kris Hedges showed himself to be one to look for in the future, winning the Road Race Points Series and Time Trial Series and finishing third in the Grand Prix. In the Primary and Pee Wee Divisions Chris Bennett and Roy Allen Burch took top honours.
