ANGLING FSH Olatungi Tucker landed a 3lb 2oz Bermuda chub on Sunday -- the largest fish in the Flybridge Tackle Junior Tournament.
Over 100 youngsters took part in the event, competing in either the under five or five to 11 age divisions.
Fishing from the shore, Rachel Antonition reeled in a 10oz bream to win the under-5 girls rod and reel category while Harry Piggott hooked a 1lb 6oz houndfish to top the boys under-5 group. A 2.5 ounce Slippery Dick was enough to give Britany Ricca the girls hand line prize.
The 5-11 age group saw youngsters fishing either from the shore or by boat. On shore Kate Piggot weighed in an 11oz houndfish to win the girls rod and reel division and Amber Simpson hooked a 1lb 13oz porgy for the girls' hand line prize. Paul Sawden had the boys' top hand line catch, a 2lb 9oz bonita, while Alexander Anderson caught a 14oz yellowtail snapper, the best on rod and reel.
On the boats, Sophie Farrow pulled up a 14oz grunt to win the rod and reel category while Ashley Mayne caught a 2lb 13oz Bermuda chub to win the hand line prize.
Winners will receive their awards at Flybridge Tackle on Saturday at 10.00 a.m.
ROAD RUNNING RUN Bermuda Track and Field Association introduce a new event to the road running calendar this Thursday evening.
And they're hoping it will attract as many tourists as it does locals. The Running Lights Road Race gets underway at 8.00 p.m. from the Clocktower in Dockyard with runners competing over five kilometres and walkers over three kilometres.
BTFA spokesman Lee Tucker said yesterday he was hopeful that passengers on the Meridian cruise ship, which will be docked at the West End, would help boost entries, and other visitors were also being encouraged to enter.
All entrants will receive "glow necklaces'' and prizes are being offered for the male and female runners wearing the most colourful costume of lights.
"It's basically a fun event, but we're also hoping that some of the Island's top runners will take part,'' said Tucker.
CHESS CHS First round play in the Mutual Risk tournament takes place this evening.
