Miami Olympic Class Regatta yesterday.

The local yachtsman, who is gearing for next month's Pan American Games where he will sail in the J24 class, is currently competing in the Star Class at a regatta in Biscayne Bay, Florida.

Fourth, following the first day's races, Bromby and White garnered a second and 11th place finishes yesterday and now stands just three points behind first place American Vince Brunn.

Brunn has 16 points from five races -- including one drop race -- while Canada's Ross MacDonald is next on 17 points, with Bromby third on 19.

"The first race we lost by half a boat length with three or four boats going across the line almost at the same time,'' said Bromby last night.

"In the second race we got bunched up and rounded the first mark 34th. We were as high as eighth at one stage.'' The final five races will be sailed this weekend out of host club Coral Reef Yacht Club, three today and two tomorrow.

Bromby is aiming for a top five finish. "It's very competitive. I don't think anybody is missing who would be a serious threat for the Olympic Games,'' said the Bermudian.
