Burrows sparks goal rush
victories on Sunday at St. John's.
The Zebras beat Prospect 6-2, the goal rush starting as early as the first minute when Laurita Burrows broke the deadlock. Wayneisha Bean, after being supplied by the hard working Stacy Babb, then stormed through Prospect's defence to score the second after 18 minutes.
The half finished with PHC in a comfortable 3-0 lead when Kimmisha Perinchief, normally a key player in setting up goals, scored one herself just before half time.
Prospect came out more determined in the second half with Tirena Rollins scoring from a corner. At one point they began to dominate play but once Burrows scored PHC's fourth in the 55th minute there was no way back for Prospect.
Prospect's Terrylynn Paynter made amends for a yellow card in the first half by pulling another goal back for Prospect in the 58th minute when she scored with a beautiful shot into the top left corner from 25 yards out.
However, an injured Gaynelle Pace in goal could not do much against the black-and-white onslaught. Bean continued her assault with a well placed shot in the 64th minute while Genevana Simmons completed the scoring in the 79th minute.
The top performers were Lisa Clarke of Prospect and Stacy Babb of PHC.
Rude Girls netted five times in the first half, including two from Chevonne Furbert, as Dandy Stars were routed 6-1.
Tamisha Darrell began the scoring for Rude Girls in the 11th minute of an already lopsided first half. Furbert added two in the next 20 minutes while Erika Russell scored in the 30th minute to make it 4-0. Juanita Smith dribbled the ball into goal late in the half to put Rude Girls in firm control.
Rude Girls were more organised and threatened to notch double figures.
However, Rhoda Jones in the Dandy Stars goal came alive in the second half and neutralised the Rude Girls attack.
Rude Girls' only tally in the second half was an own goal from Shazzina Warren in the 67th minute. Shawnette Perott prevented the shut-out by scoring for Dandy Stars in the 72nd minute.
The top players were Nina Chapman for Stars and Catherine Clarke for Rude Girls.
On Friday night at Somerset, Royals beat Wolves Girls 4-2 as Isabelle Sousa netted a hat-trick.
Last week saw Rude Girls sweat it out before scoring a 1-0 victory over PHC Zebras.
Clinching things for Rude Girls was Christina Cann who scored with a spectacular drive from an angle just two minutes into the second half.
Catherine Clarke was outstanding for Rude Girls while Stacey Edwards played well for Zebras.
Sandra Madeiros scored four goals in leading Royals to a 6-2 victory over Prospect. Other goals came from an own goal and a shot from Cheyra Ball.
Scoring for the losers were Tirena Rollins and Eulene Nurse.
Madeiros took player of the match honours for Royals while Shanelle Smith led the losers.
The other game saw Wolves defeat Dandy Stars 4-1 with Shalanda Smith scoring a hat-trick. Waynette Thomas got the other goal while Mia Burgess netted for the losers.
