Collins and Clypso first in Dressage Festival
Collins in Ireland, younger sister Annabelle Collins has come up with a superb showing of her own.
Seventeen year-old Annabelle clinched first place in the top class -- the Medium Freestyle to Music -- of the Guernsey Dressage Festival.
Riding her Dutch Warmblood Clypso, she finished with a score of 63.9% -- ahead of England's Grand Prix rider Mark Ruddock who scored 63.75%.
A student at Millfield School in England, Collins -- the daughter of Bermuda residents Michael and Rosalind Collins -- is a member of the British Junior Dressage B squad.
Over 100 riders competed in the three-day competition, including those from England and neighbouring Channel Island, Jersey.
Highlight of each day was a Grand Prix Kur performance by Collins' coach Emile Faurie on his horse Virtu, the British combination which placed fourth in the Grand Prix Special at last year's World Equestrian Games.
Faurie has accepted an invitation to hold dressage clinics in Bermuda later this year.
Earlier this month, Tim Collins, one of Bermuda's hopefuls for next year's Olympic Games, finished in eighth place in the International Championships of Ireland which attracted many of the world's top riders including Olympic gold medallists and former world champions.
