Contest leads race for cup
Mangrove Bay, but the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club boat skippered by Andreas Lewin is still on course to retain the prestigious Coronation Cup.
All competitors found the conditions to be extremely challenging especially during the first race with the winds shifting frequently.
The conditions, however, didn't deter Port Royal II , skippered by Brett Wright, from grabbing first place honours during the first race followed by Contest III in second and Paul Fisher's Challenger in third. Finishing fourth was Victory , captained by Allan Powell, while Martin Siese's Echo was fifth.
Willie White's Elizabeth sank and was unable to complete the race.
Fisher steered Challenger to a first place finish in the second race with the sailors enjoying better conditions.
In second place was Elizabeth followed by Contest . Finishing fourth was Port Royal followed by Victory in fifth.
Echo sank just before the last leg.
While Contest remains the overall leader for Coronation Cup honours, Challenger is second with Port Royal in third.
There are still two more race days -- September 10 and 17 -- remaining on the fitted dinghy calendar.
