Gerald Simons, BIU president Mr. Ottiwell Simmons said yesterday.

Among other requests, they wanted Government's help in establishing a cooperative, the Bermuda Industrial Union head said after meeting with fishermen.

Creation of a cooperative was recommended in a report on Bermuda's fisheries, and the fishermen were enthusiastic about taking over facilities on the US Naval Air Annex, Mr. Simmons said.

In addition to setting up a meeting with Mr. Simons, the fishermen planned to invite an International Labour Organisation representative to Bermuda to assess the feasibility of a fishermen's cooperative, he said.

Also at the meeting, lawyers brought fishermen up to date on the fish pot ban appeal.
