Hunt, Smith put PHC in command

PHC 100-4 Shoron Hunt and Mark Smith combined for seven wickets to lead PHC to a six-wicket victory over Social Club in First Division Open play at St. John's Field on Sunday.

Hunt enjoyed a terrific spell of medium pace bowling, finishing with four for nine off 10 overs of which four were maidens. Smith returned three for 34 off 11 overs.

Social Club's Jaymo Durham was top bat with 39 while veteran Cecil Tucker was the only other batsman in double figures with 19.

Arthur Richards led PHC in reply with 38 not out while Gerald Simons scored 22 and skipper Cal Waldron 17. Durham was also the best bowler for his team with two for 32 off eight overs.

St. David's 112 Somerset CC 94 St. David's defeated Somerset by 18 runs at Lord's with Del Hollis striking 52 for the East Enders and veteran Allen Richardson 23, the pair being the only batsmen to reach double figures.

Tacoma Robinson led Somerset's bowlers with four for 26 off 10 overs. Wendell White claimed two for 13 and Winston Reid two for 32.

Steval Mendes and Craig Brangman were the high scorers for Somerset with 22 apiece while Reid chipped in with 18. Graham Fox took three for 24 off 6.2 overs, with two maidens, while Hollis had two for 32 and Kameron Fox two for 27.

Somerset Brigdge 155 Warwick 103-7 A defiant 40 not out by Davon Govia enabled Warwick to hold on for a draw against Somerset Bridge at Southampton Oval.

The 10-man Warwick side were reeling at 64 for six when Govia and his father Hoyt Zuill put on 35 for the seventh wicket to prevent Bridge from sealing victory.

Earlier Warwick opener Daniel Caines had scored 24.

Denzil Dill was the leading bowler for Bridge with three for 29 off 18 overs, including six maidens while Andrew Wilson took two for 33 off 13 overs which included three maidens.

Veteran all-rounder David Jones led Bridge in batting with a classy 61 not out while opener Shannon Tankard stroked 30.

Warwick's skipper Allan Wilkinson topped their bowling with three for 35 off 10.5 overs while Reginald Pitcher had three for 43 off 10 overs and Dudley Lightbourne two for nine off two overs.
