In the first day of heats at the Pan-Pacific games in Georgia, Stanley Harris and Stephen Fahy both established new National Records in the 100 metres

Harris managed to shave half a second off his previous time, finishing first in his heat at 1:03.01. Fahy sliced a whole two seconds of his previous best, swimming a time of 2:17.11.

The brand new pool in Georgia will be the venue for the Olympics next year where there should be a record 25 nations competing with New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the USA providing the strongest competition.

Yesterday, Harris and Fahy were scheduled to swim the heats for the 100 metres freestyle.

CRICKET CRI Western Stars are looking for players to join them on their cricket tour of Toronto and New York, starting August 21.

Club spokesman Randy Butler said that their own team has been left short of numbers because of the holidays many members have already taken, leaving the club with no choice but to invite outside players to join their ranks.

The team will play two games in Toronto followed by two cup games in New York before returning home on August 29.

Players interested in the short tour can contact Butler at 293-1800 days and 238-0803 evenings.

FISHING FSH Flybridge Tackle are hosting their 19th annual Junior Fishng Tournament on Sunday, August 20.

The fishing will start at 8.30 a.m. and the weigh-in at 5.30 p.m. west of the flag pole on Front Street.

The event is for boys and girls with rod and reel, handline, shore or boat categories. Ages divisions will be under five, 6-11 and 12-16 with 25 prizes presented on Saturday, August 26 at Flybridge Tackle.

SOCCER SOC There will be a training session for all Park United players at Bernard Park on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
