Quarter-final matches in the Gosling Cup went according to form this week with the favoured teams all coasting to victory.
At Old Colony Club, First Division pacesetters National Sports Club dispensed with undermanned Old Colony Club I in three lopsided games. Brian Walker, Tyler Moniz and Paul Charleton posted wins for Nationals.
In the other Old Colony Club fixture, Sandys Boat Club met with stiffer resistence when Warren Harris notched a win for OCC III, but Sandys' Mike Tatem, Martin Siese and G.Connor took care of business with comfortable victories.
Queens Club I made short work of Police Recretation Club as Graham Williams, Steve Roberts and Glenn Flood all contributed wins. Only Andy Wright, who is undefeated in Second Division play, could prevent a sweep by downing Buddy Lindo.
In the other match of the evening the Sandys Sports Club I team of Lawrence DeSilva, Roger (Sticks) Henderson and Tony DeSilva downed Queens Club II.
However, Chris Dakin struck a blow for Queens Club by thrashing former clubmate Greg Falzone 75-22 Players are reminded that entry forms for the upcoming Bermuda Open Championships are now available at OCC. Entries close at 7.30 on Friday, January 20.
CYCLING CYC Bermuda Bicycle Association continues their preparation for the upcoming season when they hold the first of a series of cycling clinics this morning, starting at 9.00, at the Naval Air Station.
Each clinic will cover a number of topics such as cycle safety, riding techniques, training methods, race tips and general bike handling skills, and is designed to help riders of all abilities.
It's hoped that the junior and novice riders and newcomers will take advantage of the clinics which are being run by one of the Island's most experienced cyclists, Vance Stevens.

GOLF GLF The NAS Youth Athletic Organisation are gearing up for their upcoming youth golf clinic for aspiring golfers between the ages of 6-14 on Saturday mornings, starting next Saturday.
The clinic will be conducted by Kevin Benevides, Bruce Fraser, Stephen DeCosta and other local professionals between 8.15 and 9.15 and the lessons will take place at the Naval Air Station playing fields.
Cost for the entire clinic is $20 per student and the fee must be paid at registration today from 11 a.m. to noon at the PAO concession stand near number one gate at the Base.
Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis with a maximum of 35 students accepted. Questions regarding the clinic can be directed to Steve Harris at 293-5337 or Rick Senter at 293-5019.
POOL POO Three teams are now battling for first place in the Bermuda Pool League thanks to Robin Hood I who knocked Swinging Doors from the ranks of the unbeaten.
Doors finally met their match, going down 204-180 and are now tied with Vasco I and Hamilton Parish I with an 8-1 record. Vasco I thrashed their number three team 216-149 while Hamilton Parish I sliced through Sandys Boat Club 220-160.
In other play War Vets easily got by Docksiders 215-157 while Swinging Doors II zipped by Mariners 223-161. In the closest match of the night, Vasco II were unable to stop Hamilton Parish II, losing 194-190.
Four players achieved perfect scores of 50, Joseph Hayward, Stephen Roberts, Donald Simmons and Richard Foggo who had his fourth perfect score.
POWERBOATING RAB Bermuda Power Boat Association will hold their prize presentation at Belmont next Friday at 8 p.m. The annual general meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25 at Admiralty House Community Centre.
