Second Division player faces ban

BAA utility player Yul Wade could find himself in for a lengthy ban after referee Leroy Wilson was attacked during this game at BAA Field on Sunday.

Wade reportedly took offence to a non-call by the official during the first half that resulted in a Somerset score. Witnesses say he took several swipes at Wilson and had to be restrained before order was restored.

Wade was ejected and a report is being prepared for the Bermuda Football Association disciplinary committee.

He reportedly apologised to Wilson after the match.

BAA ultimately ended the match with just nine players on the pitch. Wayne DeSilva was also red carded for showing dissent in the second half.

Somerset struck early and often, as Anthony Burchall scored in the seventh and 12th minutes and Everett Wellman in the 14th to give the visitors a 3-0 halftime lead.

Substitute Curtis Grant completed the rout with an 89th minute score.

Hotels 3, Paget 0 Veteran striker Ricky Hill netted twice but was later sent off the field after a Paget player was elbowed in the face in this clash at Southampton Oval.

Hill's team-mate Diallo Sharrieff was also ordered off for kicking an opponent. Sharrieff exited first after 57 minutes and Hill followed eight minutes later.

Hill gave Hotels a 1-0 lead just seven minutes and Dennis Robinson made it 2-0 before Hill scored again.

Somerset Eagles 3, Social Club 0 Stephen Burrows netted twice and Dion Minors got the other goal as Eagles had little trouble against Social Club at White Hill. The home side led 2-0 at the interval, but an improved performance by Social Club after the half limited Eagles to just one goal when play re-started.

Friendship Trophy Tonight presents the third match in what seems an unending series between Boulevard and North Village, as the First Division pair meet at PHC in the Friendship Trophy competition.

It will mark the third time in eight days that they have faced each other, with 210 minutes of action in the two previous encounters producing but a single goal.

The Blazers defeated the Red Devils 1-0 after extra-time during last Monday's Martonmere Cup final, before being held to a goal-less draw in their most recent league match on Sunday at windswept Bernard Park.

While Village hold a more lofty position in the First Division, Boulevard have performed best in Cup competitions and will hope that holds true tonight. Both teams present similar styles, which have more often than not relayed into dull, tactical battles, with goals at a premium and the impending clash should prove no different.

Game time is 9 p.m.

Tonight's curtain raiser features Social Club against Hamilton Parish in the Shield competition, with the Bluebirds entering as firm favourites to move on.
