Shannon steals the show
he went undefeated during the World Distributors trophy race day at Southside on Sunday.
And the same rider then returned on a much bigger bike to lift the GP title.
Caisey proved there was no competition for him among the mini-stocks, leaving John Perinchief in second place and John Tumbridge in third while 12-year-old Jermel Wolffe, in only his second race, picked up his first silverware with a fifth place.
The class with the most numbers was the stock-lightweight which was split into two groups racing in heats to decide a final winner-take-all race. The other other classes ran four heats to decide their winner.
Caisey, aboard a European spec April RS, easily won the GPs, although both Scott Mello and Justin Belboda did give him stiffer opposition than the riders in the mini-stocks.
Mello and Belboda jockeyed for the lead in the early laps but once Caisey managed to squeeze by, all they saw of him was his exhaust pipes. Belboda placed second overall and Mello third.
The scooters race saw work-mates Mark Lightbourne and Norman Smith dictate as they ran away from the competition. Lightbourne just edged his rival in all of the heats to take overall victory.
David Jones showed his wealth of experience to ride an unfamiliar scooter into third place. He qualified to the stock class final along with Alex Dowling, Grant Goudge and Glenn Mello.
The last chance qualifier enabled Carla John and Justin Currie to join them.
The final saw Goudge take an early lead and stay a half bike ahead of Jones for the first half of the race before Jones squeezed through with four laps remaining, only then to be passed again on the penultimate lap.
Goudge managed to hold the lead to the chequered flag ahead of Jones and Dowling.
