Simmons is in first place overall on 113 points, following up on a ninth place finish in the first race with a first and second yesterday.

Another Bermudian, Blythe Walker, got off to a storming start and is third overall on 143 points.

Walker, who sailed with Peter Bromby at the Pan Am Games in Argentina in March, crossed the line first in the opening race of the eight-race championships on Sunday. Yesterday he was ninth and fifth in the second and third races.

A fleet of 16 boats representing nine countries are contesting the Worlds which will continue throughout this week.
