The young Trojans, competing in the under-17 age group, were beaten 1-0 on a late goal by Delaware Express of Buffalo, New York, having kept clean sheets in their first three matches earlier in the week in which they scored a total of 13 goals.
On Monday, the Trojans beat Fairfield Soccer Club of New Jersey 4-0 before edging by Santa Fe Express of Texas 1-0 the following day. On Wednesday the local team romped to their biggest win when they trounced local side Richfield Spartans 8-0.
There are three play-off groups and the quarter-finals and semifinals were held yesterday with the finals scheduled for today.
The USA Cup, in its ninth year, is the world's fourth largest soccer tournament, involving more than 600 teams. The tournament is held every July at the nation's largest soccer complex, the National Sports Centre and adjacent to the Blaine Soccer Complex where there are 45 fields at one site.
The Trojans competed against teams from 35 states and 20 foreign contries such as Russia, Japan, Norway, Chile, Brazil and the Czech Republic.
The week-long tournament began with an Olympics-style opening ceremony at the Metrodome where there were over 10,000 players and 20,000 spectators.
CRICKET CRI Practice for the second annual Mini Cup Match will be held at Shelly Bay field on Tuesday (10.15 a.m.). The match will be held next Thursday at Devonshire Recreation Club.
