On the final weekend of the Winter National Age Goup Championships, Burch shattered the 50-metre backstroke record in the boys 9-10 year-old class.
The cool temperature didn't stop Burch from a clocking a time of 36.75 seconds, bettering the old mark of 37.68 set by Kwame Caisey in July, 1993.
Burch also won the high-point trophy, awarded to the swimmer in each age group with the highest number of points over the three days of competition.
Other high-point winners were Christina Dodwell and James O'Shea (8 and under); Melanie Fullerton (9-10); Emma Rego and Darryl Stynor (11-12); Jessica Sousa and Nuri Latham (13-14); Zoe Roberts and Ronald Cowen (15 and over).
Swimmers now take a break from competition until February.
