Dave Woolf had a perfect night for the losers with a four-for-four performance. DeSilva was the winning pitcher while Ron Skaggs took the loss.

Gateway easily beat Wildcats thanks to Mark Kaplan and Gary Carr who each went three-for-three, scoring two runs apiece. Mark Monoghan helped Wildcats with a three-for-four display. Al McKinnon was the losing pitcher and Nigel Godfrey the winner.

PALMS beat Surface Trends 26-21 with Larry King, Clarkie Trott and Austin John combining for 13 hits and driving home 15 runs between them. Wendy Ebbin went two-for-three for the losers. Charles Williams-Grant was the winning pitcher while Al Busby suffered the defeat.

Ace Insurance defeated J & H Heat 29-14 behind Robert Blee who hit for the cycle in a good night at the plate. He and Kevin Greaves both went four-for-five and combined to drive home 10 runs.

Dennis Burton got the win while Eva-Jean Smith suffered the loss. Deloitte and Touche came on with a late surge to edge Bank of Bermuda Cougars 17-14. Johnny Hasnain led Deloitte with a grand slam homer in the second innings.

A close match-up saw Cooper and Lines edge Oasis 15-14 with J.P.Harrop having a three-for-four night and batting in five runs.

PTB beat Robin Hood 27-12 behind Glen Creighton who went five-for-five, hitting for the cycle in the process.

Bobcats downed Ernst & Young 23-15 with Alan Webb and Terry West going four-for-four and batting in 10 runs between them.

Warwick beat BNTB Flyers 21-4 with Russell Dey going three-for-three and David Wall turning in a four-for-four effort for the losers.

DARTS DRT The Bermuda International Darts Tournament is set for Sunday, January 29 at BAA clubhouse starting at 2.00.

The tournament aims to have an international flavour with eight invited teams made up of players from the local leagues with each team playing the rest on a round robin basis.

The teams are: Bermuda Men, Scotland, Bermuda Ladies, England, Bermuda Veterans, Purtugal, Bermuda Onions and The Rest of the World.

Each team will consist of four players who represent the best available and qualified from their respective teams.

There will also be a singles tournament which from which the players will accumulate points to contribute to the team score. A $500 purse is up for grabs in the singles competition.

The singles will carry a separate trophy in addition to the cash and there will also be a souvenir trophy for the day's highest check out and the player accumulating the most tons.

"One of the aims of this event is to provide a more formal atmosphere in which the Island's best players can hone their skills,'' commented an official.

"Performances abroad have indicated that Bermuda can achieve a measure of success but are adversely affected by the lack of opportunity to compete as a team on a regular basis.'' SOCCER SOC The first leg of a match pitting members of Bermuda Regiment Quartermaster departments against each other last Friday saw Cooks defeat Waiters 6-5 at Southampton Oval.

The game provided a welcome change of pace from the daily rigours of recruit camp and it was the Cooks who adjusted best as they went ahead early. Cooks led 4-3 at half time on goals from Keneil Ingham, Lynn Burrows and two from Darrin Hayward, while Useeff Eve (two) and Fred Lottimore replied for Waiters.

Play see-sawed in the second half with Waiters equalising at 4-4 and 5-5, as Eve completed his hat-trick and Terry Simons added another.

However, it was left for Lamont Stone to grab the glory with two goals, including the winner.

NETBALL NET Cardinals came out tops in the weekend's double elimination knockout President's tournament as they defeated PCC 21-8 in the final. Cardinals led from the start and by the half were 13-4 ahead.

On their way to the final they defeated Cooper & Lines 21-5, Aico 21-7 and PCC 17-10.

PCC's route the final saw them beat Hamilton Parish Workmen's Club 17-6 and Olympic Panthers twice, 14-8 and 15-14.

Last year's winner 7-Up Netts bowed out in the quarter finals when they lost to Panthers for the second time 15-13.

CHESS CHS Nick Faulks and Richard Robinson are tied for the lead after four rounds of the Quick-Play tournament with 31 points each after their fourth round top-of-the-table match-up ended in a draw.

A half point off the pace are Eric Keen, Brian Stephenson and Carlton Williams.

The final three rounds will take place tonight, starting at 7.45.

Anyone who missed last week's action can join in and receive two bye points.

Players should note that the venue will again be the Mariners' Club on Richmond Road. Prizes will be awarded immediately following the final round.
