The annual weight handicap race, traditionally the last road race of the season, is set to take place in the evening for the first time.
Normally staged on a Sunday morning, the event has been switched to Tuesday, July 11, starting at 7.00 p.m. in King's Square, St. George's.
It will tie in with the town's Harbour Nights festivities and race organisers, Mid Atlantic Athletic Club, are hopeful that cruise ship passengers will take part either in the main event or a fitness walk to be held at the same time.
A race with a difference, results are determined by dividing each runner's finishing time in seconds by his/her weight in pounds.
The "weigh-in'' will begin at 6.15 p.m.
Swan's Running Club, in conjunction with Somerset Bridge Recreation Club, have begun a once-a-month fun run/walk from White Hill Field. The first event was held last night at 6.00 p.m.
Swan's monthly meeting takes place at the Department of Youth, Sports and Recreation this evening at 7.00.
GOLF GLF Ocean View leapfrogged over Mid Ocean Club into first place of the Amstel League `A' Division on Saturday when their team tied for first place on 295 strokes with Port Royal II.
The Devonshire club now have 29 points for the season, two ahead of Mid Ocean and three and a half in front of third-placed Port Royal II.
Saturday's play saw Belmont take third place with 306 strokes and Mid Ocean fourth with 307.
This Saturday sees the `A' Division move to Port Royal while the `B' Division will play at Ocean View. Teams should be phoned into BGA secretary Tom Smith by 6.00 p.m. this evening.
