Somerset where the third-placed Trojans entertain leaders Dandy Town (8.00).

A week ago the teams were locked on eight points at the top of the standings.

But while Town managed a 1-1 draw away to Devonshire Colts, the Trojans were knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten when they went down to BAA in the day's shock result.

Somerset went from first to third with that loss and a similar result tonight could see them slip even further down the standings as just two points separate them and second-placed North Village from Boulevard in seventh.

Because of that small margin, points are all the more important as teams jockey for Dudley Eve places, which will involve the top four teams at the end of the season's first round of matches. Each team still has three games remaining.

Town will be hoping to have top scorer Darron (Duke) Simons fit from a leg injury he suffered in midweek in the Friendship Trophy. Together with Carlos Smith, who has been doing more providing than scoring so far, Simons leads a Town attack that is one of the most feared in the First Division.

Simons has nine goals already this season, two behind top marksman Dennis Robinson of North Village.

Village, meanwhile, are favoured for another win tomorrow when they take on bottom team Devonshire Cougars at Bernard Park.

But in their last outing Cougars were unlucky not to beat Boulevard and with the likes of Philip Clarke and Clevie Campbell leading their attack they still have the players to prove that their bottom position is not a true reflection of their ability.

Just a point separates Cougars from Vasco and depending on how results go in the next few weeks they could find themselves off the bottom by Christmas.

Vasco, like Cougars, recently parted with their coach -- Jack Castle -- because of a string of poor results in the league. Tomorrow the Portuguese club travel to Wellington Oval to meet a St. George's team that have won their last two matches and climbed to fourth in the standings, a point behind Village and Somerset.

Last year Vasco spoiled whatever hopes St. George's had of success in the cup competitions when, after losing to them in the league, they knocked the East Enders out of both the Friendship Trophy and FA Cup.

Another interesting match tomorrow will be at PHC Stadium where the Zebras will try to arrest a three game losing streak against a BAA side that has remained unbeaten in their last three outings.

Bother teams will be missing key players because of the Under-23 tour to Jamaica. BAA will be without former PHC defender Meshach Wade and goalkeeper Dwayne (Streaker) Adams while PHC will miss Blenn Bean, Raynel Lightbourne, Ottis Steede and Dano Outerbridge. Don't be surprised, therefore, to see the likes of veterans Kenny Burt and Sammy Swan back in uniform.

Boulevard and Devonshire Colts, both still in the hunt for Dudley Eve places, will battle at St. David's. The teams are tied on six points and though Colts are the draw specialists, having tied four of their six matches, they will need to play at a higher level than they did in midweek.

Colts have been badly hit by injuries while three of their top youngsters -- Keishon Smith, Marvin Lewis and college student Quincy Aberdeen -- will also be missing because of the Under-23 team's tour.

Second Division leaders Southampton Rangers travel to Devonshire Rec. to meet Wolves while Somerset Eagles, second, take on fourth-placed Port Royal at Frog Lane. The other matches see Paget at home to Social Club at Southampton Oval and bottom team Hamilton Parish take on Prospect at Wellington Oval.

Somerset Bridge are not competing in the Alliance Division so Dandy Town have a bye in today's Alliance Knockout Cup.

Meanwhile, the Minor Division match today between St. George's and Vasco at Garrison Field has been postponed.

DARRON SIMONS -- Dandy Town's top scorer is a doubtful starter because of a leg injury.
