Town striker could miss game against Somerset
clash with Somerset after being injured during Tuesday night's Friendship Trophy clash against Devonshire Colts.
Simons, who scored twice in the match, was stretched off with what was described as a deep bruise to his thigh after colliding with a Colts defender late in the contest.
The incident took place during a period of torrential rain which made footing treacherous for the players and was initially immobilised by the hit, but was seen to be able to get about later, although experiencing obvious discomfort.
Town coach Mark Trott yesterday said that he and his staff were adopting a "wait and see'' approach to the forward's playing status.
"Hopefully he will be available, but if not we have people available,'' said Trott, who will definitely miss the match due to his accompanying the Bermuda under 23 squad to Jamaica for Pan American Games qualifying matches.
"Knowing Darron and the kind of person he is, if he can walk he'll play.
It'll be hard to keep him off the pitch.'' After struggling for playing time last season Simons has blossomed into one of the Island's premier strikers, having scored nine goals thus far this season, second only to north Village's Dennis Robinson, who has 11.
Town lead the Coca Cola First Division with nine points from six matches, while their weekend opponents Somerset are third on eight points.
