US bowling coaches lend a helping hand in FIQ build-up

Bermuda's top tenpin bowlers have been receiving expert advice this week as they step up their preparation for July's FIQ world championships in Reno, Nevada.

The six men/six women squad have been under the watchful eye of American coaches Robert Correia and Cori Stevens, brought in by the Bermuda Bowling Association to help in the build-up to the July 7-15 tournament.

Correia, a former professional player from Philadelphia, competed on the Pro Tour for three years. A silver certified coach, he won three regional PBA tournaments and has recorded a total of 17 300 games and nine 800 series.

Stevens, from Oklahoma City, is the manager of her parents' bowling centre which boasts the largest in-school bowling programme in the state.

A bronze certified coach, she's also a member of the Women's International Bowling Congress.

Bermuda's team for the FIQ event is: Men -- Dean Lightbourne, Victor Thompson, Mike McCallum, Ty Williams, Conrad Lister, Steven Riley. Women -- Dianne Bobby Ingham, June Pitt, Donna Amaral, Pat Price, Darnelle Raynor, Charlette Samuels.
