Wanderers stumble as three see red

on Saturday when they could only manage a 0-0 draw against mid-table North Village Rams in an ill-tempered match at BAA that resulted in three red cards.

Frustration set in for Wanderers who had Martin Jones sent off for serious foul play and Thomas Gribbin for a second booking while Richard (Eyes) Robinson of Rams was ejected late in the first half for abusive language.

Hood extended their lead over Wanderers to five points after a 6-1 win over Prison Officers at Malabar field.

Derek Thomas scored a first half hat-trick in the space of 23 minutes with goals in the fourth, 18th and 27th minutes while Paul Towlson added two more in the second half. Simon Turner was also on the scoresheet for the defending champions.

Craig Smith, who scored for Prison Officers early in the second half, was sent off three minutes from the end for abusive language.

Lobster Pot moved into second place with a narrow 1-0 win over MR Onions at Shelly Bay field. The clash between next weekend's two FA Cup quarter-finalists was separated by Troy Berkeley's eighth minute goal.

Fire Service were the big winners, hammering bottom team Exiles 8-0 as Brian Fubler scored a hat-trick and Kenny Bartrum two. Leonard Davis, Roger Dill and Robert Thomas were the other scorers for Fire who strengthened their grip on fourth place.

Vasco Mariners enjoyed a good win, hammering PHC Raiders 7-3 with Joe Baroso, Joe Rodrigues and Malik Blyden all scoring twice and Michael Bean the other.

Chris Furbert scored two penalties for Raiders while Quinton Ming netted once.

David Chambray of Vasco was sent off in the 84th minute after a second caution.

Two players were also sent off in the Reserve Division Knockout final at White Hill where Dandy Town beat PHC 1-0 with a goal from Mark Trott in the 34th minute.

Town's Marlon Lindsay was ejected in the 81st minute for denying an opponent a scoring opportunity. Sean Simmons of PHC got his marching orders four minutes earlier for abusive language.

In the B Division, Tuff Dogs took over first place after beating previous leaders Devonshire All-Stars 5-2 in a top-of-the-table clash.

In women's soccer, PHC Teasers' Waynesha Bean also scored a hat-trick, as her team beat Wolves Girls 4-1 on the weekend. Stacy Babb got the other PHC goal while Shahri Scraders netted for Wolves Girls.
