an emphatic 4-1 defeat of supposed challengers Island Rangers on Saturday.

Sloppy goalkeeping by Rangers' Tyrone Berkeley in the first half put the visitors in an early hole.

It took just 10 minutes for the home side to surge into a two goal lead as a result of Berkeley's misadventures and the onslaught continued as two more goals were plundered, with Andy Powell scoring twice and Stuart Drake and Gary Wilson one each. Michael Bremar converted a penalty for Rangers.

Former leaders Robin Hood notched a crucial victory, beating Spinning Wheel 2-1, but lost the top spot by virtue of an inferior goal difference.

Tim Perry and Simon Turner were both on target for Hood. Chris Furbert scored for Wheel.

Exiles, with strikes from Craig Tyrrell, Raymond Durham and Marvin Hassan downed Forties 3-1. Ronald Simmons netted for the losers.

Lobster Pot mauled North Village Rams 5-0 with the goals coming from Kevin Wilkin, Anthony Smith, Allan Mooney, Michael Evans and Dominique Critchley.

In Group B, Devonshire Colts All-Stars enhanced their promotion chances with a 4-1 trouncing of cellar dwellers Park United. All-Stars were spurred by a Dwayne Cox hat-trick and a single goal from Jeff Richardson and moved two points clear with five matches remaining. Kenneth Francis scored Park's only goal.

A suddenly rejuvenated Fire Service moved back into second place, overhauling Somerset Extros 5-0. Troy Furbert, taking full advantage of a leaky Extros defence, surged back into the scoring lead, netting all five goals to put his season total at 25.

Valley disposed of St. George's All-Stars 3-1 as Kevin McNeil, Al Thomas and Sean Smith scored for the victors and Cal Rayner for the losers.

Prison Officers continued their rise, dumping KPMG 2-0 with Dennis Brown scoring twice. Wolves hammered Devonshire Lions 8-2 with Sammy Lambe scoring four.

In Alliance Division Group A action Dandy Town defeated St. George's 3-1, Devonshire Colts and Somerset drew 0-0 and PHC defeated North Village by default. Group B saw St. David's down Southampton 2-0 and BAA draw 2-2 with Prospect.
