Way beats Kennedy to reach final

Heineken Bermuda Open yesterday with a 6-1, 6-1 straight sets triumph at the Tennis Stadium.

The victory propels Way into the men's A singles final where he'll now face the winner of tonight's match involving number three seed Gregg Frigerio and Roger Marshall.

Kennedy pulled off the tournament's biggest surprise on Tuesday night when he defeated number two seed Ricky Mallory 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.

Danielle Paynter, 14, orchestrated a shock result of her own when she defeated Marion Ezedemina, the number one seed in the women's B singles, 1-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 on Tuesday night.

Paynter is one of Bermuda's best junior players.

In other women's B matches Ellen Kelly defeated Monique Ternier 7-5, 6-0 and Julie Bett overpowered Janice Hankey 6-4, 6-1.

In men's B singles Dwayne Saunders beat Bernd Miller 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 and Ian Chalmers topped David Geraghty 6-2, 6-4.
