Ten-man Rangers earn draw
Devonshire Colts 0
Southampton Rangers 0
Devonshire Colts and Southampton Rangers walked away with a point each yesterday after a dull, goalless draw at Police Field.
Although the match was vital to both teams, neither seemed to really want the three points that could be the difference between staying up and going down come season's end.
When Rangers skipper Kamen Tucker was given his marching orders in the 59th minute, fans were bracing for a high-octane finish to the match. However, goals never arrived with Colts producing some woeful finishing.
Kyle Jones had a chance to put the home side up midway through the first half when he slipped behind the Rangers' back four only to lose his footing and watch his effort slide past the post. Substitute Bayon Robinson had the second gilt-edged opportunity when Phil Anderson sent in a cross that the lanky striker headed onto the post in the dying stages of the game.
A battle-worn Joseph Butterfield admitted after the match that until his side could put away their chances, they would continue to struggle for points.
"As usual we had the chances to win but we just don't put our chances away to win games."
