Bermuda looking to get off to flyer
While the undoubted highlight of the first day of the World Rugby Classic tomorrow will be France v South Africa, Bermuda will get the tournament under way when they take on Lloyds RFC (12.45pm).
A select XV, and an expanded squad of 25, have already been chosen to represent the Island in the first game of the week-long festival, and with the likes of newcomers Ian Henderson and David Pringle alongside the experience of Chris Way and Tom Healy, coach Johann Oosthuizen is looking forward to an entertaing game of rugby.
"Although we're missing some of our regular International players, the boys are excited and look forward to kicking off the 2008 Rugby Classic in true Bermuda style by playing some entertaining rugby," said Oosthuizen
Forwards to watch will be explosive hooker Thomas "Tank" Greenslade, consistent second row David Rourke, Captain Pete Dunkerley and lively flanker Mike Barkhuizen. Stalwarts Mariner Jackson and Dave Bird should inject some experience coming off the bench in the second half. In the backline we're looking forward to seeing Vice-captain Tom Healy combine with newcomers Ian Henderson and David Pringle while the experience of Chris Way at inside centre should provide some stability to in the midfield. The exciting Bermuda 7's star Tom Edwards is sure to make an impact when introduced off the bench and will be looking to unleash hard running wingers Steve Husbands and Neil McGuiness.
