Riders show class in Ecuador

Bermuda showjumpers Christy Corbett and JayLynn Hines have returned to the Island after putting in a fine display at the II Copa Internacional Mitad Del Mundo in Ecuador.

Corbett finished third overall in the International B (Adult) category out of 36 riders. She also received an award for the Best Foreign Rider and the Best Style Rider in this category.

Thirteen-year-old JayLynn Hines finished 12th overall out of 36 riders in the Children B (12-14 years) category.

Meanwhile the Bermuda Equestrian Federation is sending two riders to the Barbados leg of the Caribbean Equestrian Association Junior Showjumping Competition.

Marlena Tucker who rides out of Inwood Stables and is coached by Nick DeCosta will represent the Island in the 16 and under category, while in the 14 and under category, we have Azaria Smith who rides out of Spicelands Riding Center and is coached by Catrin Glawischnig.

This is the first time that Smith has competed outside of Bermuda. Nick DeCosta is travelling as the team coach. The Bermuda leg of the competition will be held at the National Equestrian Center on May 3rd and 4th, 2009.
