Thursday meeting for committee on airport

LF Wade International Airport

The next hearing of the Public Accounts Committee on the Government’s proposed airport development has been announced for Thursday.

Composed of Members of Parliament from either side of the political aisle, the PAC has held several meetings on the plans for LF Wade International Airport.

At a meeting on November 19, 2015, the PAC asked for the Financial Secretary to provide a copy of the Airport Development Agreement executed by the Minister of Finance with the Canadian Commercial Corporation.

A summons was issued on April 5 by David Burt, the PAC chairman, after the full agreement including schedules was not supplied.

The PAC looks into public accounts issues, and particularly matters reported by the Auditor-General in the Auditor’s Annual and other Special Reports.

The next meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at 2.30pm on April 14 in the library of the House of Assembly.
