Bermuda’s legislature has a revamped website which will help the public to ask MPs questions.

Derrick Burgess, the Deputy Speaker of the House, told MPs about the upgrade on Friday.

The site will include a “virtual tour” through the House and the homepage will have information about members, including the Bills they have presented and votes recorded.

Events such as committee reports and special announcements will be posted and the Order of Business for the House and the Senate have been added as scrollable documents.

Mr Burgess said the website was linked to the legislature’s Facebook page, where users could “directly communicate any questions or concerns with regards to Parliament”.

He was speaking as he delivered a report of the House and Grounds Committee, which has met four times to tackle outstanding matters.

Mr Burgess said renovation work to the upper floor of Sessions House, home to the House, was a priority and that the old air-conditioning system had been removed from the roof and a new system installed.

The work will be completed during the summer recess.

The Assembly has been held in Sessions House since 1826. The original building dates back to 1815.
