Legislation covering Bermuda for the UK’s departure from the European Union will go before legislators as MPs return to the House of Assembly today.

David Burt, the Premier, will table the EU Withdrawal Act 2020, switching references to the EU with “UK”, on the day Britain formally withdraws from the EU in the long awaited move known as Brexit.

Three Bills left over from December’s order paper will come up for debate: the Mortgage Registration Amendment Act 2019, the Statistics Amendment Act 2019, and the Motor Car and Road Traffic (Miscellaneous) Amendment Act 2019.

MPs are also expected to discuss the Bermuda College’s annual report for 2018/19.

Ministerial statements include an update on the living wage, from labour minister Lovitta Foggo, and a statement by Wayne Caines, the Minister of National Security, on last year as the first in decades that no murders were recorded.
