PwC to hold captive seminar next week

David Gibbons: PwC director of captive insurance

Professional services firm PwC is to hold its sixth annual seminar to examine the latest updates in captives, the company has announced.

Next Monday’s seminar will look at changes in accounting rules, tax and regulatory matters affecting the captive insurance sector.

David Gibbons, PwC director of captive insurance, said: “We want to give professionals in the Bermuda captive insurance industry a complete picture of what is happening in the market differentiating between real and perceived threats and opportunities.

“Our speakers will provide perspectives and insight on new areas of opportunity for Bermuda and how we can collectively pursue growth through developing markets.”

Specialist panels will give overviews on auditing and accounting updates, including how to deal with the new Insurance Standard, as well as discuss regulation.

Other panels will look at the US Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and its impact on the captives sector and other updates on the US tax code and market trends.

Panellists include Bermuda Business Development Agency CEO Stephen Lund, Bermuda Monetary Authority assistant director in licensing and authorisations Leslie Robinson and Arthur Wightman, insurance leader at PwC’s Bermuda office.

The Captive Update Seminar will be held at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on Monday, December 16 between 1.30pm and 5pm.
