Rangers coach Jennings looks for more of the same

Southampton Rangers coach Keith Jennings wants his side to continue their early season momentum as they head into their Dudley Eve semi-final match against Dandy Town tonight at Somerset Cricket Club. The side have lost just once this year, an opening day defeat to St George’s, and have been consistent in their performances particularly in the Dudley Eve.They topped their group with convincing wins over Devonshrie Cougars and PHC and Jennings wants more of the same come kick-off tonight.“It is a do or die situation we are going into, we would like to reach the final so we will need to be at our best or we will be going home,” said Jennings.“We started well in our group games with wins over Cougars and PHC and this is a semi-final, Dandy Town aren’t any slouches by any stretch of the imagination so we have to leave everything on the field in order to advance and also build the players’ confidence.“If we can’t win games we don’t want to lose them. Last year we seem to either win or lose games so now the onus is on us to improve the results and only we can do that.“The season has started well for us but we have to stay motivated and look to improve each week on the previous result, especially with the league and getting some early points.”Town will be eager to put their name on the trophy and given how their season has gone thus far they won’t be in the giving mood.Having come off a comfortable victory at home over new boys Robin Hood over the weekend, they will be looking to find some form.Given how the results have played out recently between the two clubs, it should set up for a very compelling game that could be decided by individual brilliance.“Tonight’s game should be interesting and we have had our little rivalries with them that have gone back and forth with both teams looking to come out and play some football,” added Jennings.“It would be great to make this final. We haven’t made this final in quite some time, we have made the FA Cup and Friendship finals and we want to continue in the same vein and this time bring something home.“Winning games always builds confidence so if we can get this win under our belt then it should be able to help us to get through the next few games. It would be good for not only the club but the community as well.”The other group winners, and defending Friendship champions, North Village play city rivals Devonshire Cougars for the third time already this campaign for the right to play in the final. The Rams have got the better of the Big Cats in their previous matches in both the League and Charity Cup.
