She also says she is a Christian woman who tries to be the best she can be.

The 17-year-old says she believes family-oriented lifestyles need to be promoted more and families should be "God centred''.

Kamaria says society's main problem is "dysfunctional families''.

"The family produces society's people,'' she says. "If the family is dysfunctional, the society will be dysfunctional. Everything starts at home.'' Kamaria, who enjoys swimming and cycling, says there should be a recreation centre where the youth can meet to play sports. The recreation centre would offer enough space to play different sports and would include a swimming pool and basketball court, she said. She believes that the generation coming up now is different from the last generation because of the violence in the Island.

"If the violence continues Bermuda will be a lot worse,'' she warns. "It will not be the warm friendly place it is known as now.'' And she says if violence and crime were to be controlled in Bermuda, the tourism industry would benefit from an increase in the number of visitors. And with that the people of Bermuda would benefit because people would trust each other more. A 12th grader at Bermuda Institute, Kamaria says her favourite class at school is Biology because she enjoys learning about life.

She also enjoys science and hopes to pursue a career in this field. She says she either wants do research in biochemistry or become a paediatrician. At school Kamaria is a prefect and has a 4.00 grade point average. She has been on the principal's list since she started high school.

Kamaria enjoys reading, and singing. She also likes to watch figure skating on television.

Her favourite food is cake and her favourite musical artists are Michael Jackson and Seal.

When it comes to television Kamaria likes to watch "The Nanny'', "Wings'', and "Fresh Prince''.

Kamaria has one sister, Bianca and two brothers, Dulani and Bryce.

Kamaria says she would like to meet Mahatma Ghandi because she admires his humility and his philosophy on non violence. If she was given a plane ticket to anywhere in the world, Kamaria says she would go to Asia -- especially Singapore -- because of the diversity of people, culture and religion that exist there.
