Brothers give a helping hand
The brothers, Joey, 6, and Andrew, 3, Pieser, responded to calls for volunteers and assistance from The Family Learning Centre, which recently launched a new public awareness campaign.
The Pieser brothers sold toys, lemonade and baked goods at their parents garage sale to raise money for the Family Learning Centre. They earned $25, which was matched by family and family friends -- raising their donation to $75.
Executive director Martha Dismont said: "I am elated by this act of generosity by these two young boys and their determination to make a difference in the lives of other young people. They set an example for us all to follow.'' The boys were given a tour of the Family Learning Centre so they could see firsthand what type of things their donation would support.
Since it was founded in 1990, the Family Learning Centre has addressed the needs of children facing social, emotional or behavioural difficulties.
The Family Learning Centre intends to expand and develop its programme to respond to the needs of the community and increase the community's awareness of the services available.
