Runner Jahmari prepares for two international track meets
Mrs. Leslie Evans, a teacher at T. N. Tatem Middle School, recently sat down with Jahmari Sutton, a thirteen year-old M2 student, who is making quite an impression in the track and field community not only at school but across the whole island.
Evans: How often do you train?
Jahmari: Twice a week at National Stadium with Coach Cal Simmons.
Evans: And when did you first get involved in track?
Jahmari: In P4 and P5. My mama signed me up.
Evans: What do you have going on now? Are you training for anything?
Jahmari: Yeah. I'm training for two international track meets in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania) and North Carolina.
Evans: What kinds of things do you do to train?
Jahmari: I really like to run on the beach.
At the recent T. N. Tatem Sport's Day, he placed first in the 800 metres run, long jump, and high jump. At Interschool Sports, he placed first in the high jump, 800 metres run, and the 1500 metres run. Mr. William Euler, one of the school's track and field coaches states that Jahmari is the fastest runner in his age group on the Island.
