Teen in fatal crash in Somerset
A 16-year-old schoolboy died yesterday after his scooter was in collision with two other vehicles.
Police said the youngster, from Sandys, died after a crash involving his bike, a fire engine and a taxi. It is the first road death of the year.
The crash happened on Somerset Road, Sandys, near Scaur Hill, at about 4.15pm. Traffic in the area of the crash was delayed for several hours as police experts examined the scene.
A police spokesman said a family liaison officer has been assigned to the boy’s family.
He added an inquiry into the incident was under way and that any witnesses should contact Pc Dennis Joell on 247-1788 or 717-2221 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
