Zurich’s contribution to happier seniors
The 14 senior groups that comprises the Island-Wide Social Committee wish to thank Zurich Bermuda for sponsoring their May social.
The IWSC, which has been organising social rallies for seniors for more than three decades, is thrilled with the news that its co-ordinator, the Bermuda Senior Islanders’ Centre, received a charitable donation from Zurich.
The centre was a beneficiary of Z Zurich Foundation’s hours matching programme when the Zurich Bermuda office received a payout for its staff’s 2018 volunteerism. We work well with Zurich Bermuda, and we’re naturally delighted that they selected us for a donation of $2,500.
For a decade, Zurich Bermuda has sponsored fabulous island-wide teas with appetising refreshments and door prizes. We estimate that over that period dedicated Zurich staff have served more than 1,600 tasty meals to seniors during Bermuda Heritage Month.
Melissa Logie, of Zurich, said: “Zurich volunteers from around the world volunteered a staggering 121,290 business hours in 2018 to improve the communities in which they live and work, and the Zurich Bermuda volunteer rate for 2018 was close to 90 per cent.
“As you know, a large number of our Bermuda staff come out to support the Senior Islanders’ Centre at the teas that we host. Our staff thoroughly enjoy this event and look forward to it every year.”
