Cup Match celebrations will still go ahead even without cricket as the holiday centrepiece.

Below, some of the highlights in the coming days:

• A Cup Match roadshow run by The MarketPlace will offer customers the chance to take part in some of the traditions associated with the annual classic. The Sandys store will host events from 4pm to 8pm. A spokesman explained that the “special highlight” would be a twist on Crown&Anchor.

He said: “For every $50 spent at The MarketPlace, customers will receive an entry form to place their bets, in lieu of cash. Winning bets will then be entered into a draw for one of three $100 gift cards.

“Purchases must be made on the day.”

Ashley’s Lemonade, 9 Parishes, Beat the Heat Treats and Casa Dos Açores will be on hand for snacks and beverages. DJ Chubb will play music during the afternoon and Gombey Warriors will perform at 7.30pm.

• Pre-Cup Match Old School Reggae Cruise featuring Supatone Sound and OGS Genesis. Boarding is at Dockyard on the lower road by the America’s Cup Village. The new MV Longtail departs at 9pm with pre-boarding from 8pm to 8.30pm. A mask and ID are required to get on board. For more information call 517-6656.

• CITV will have Cup Match programming on Emancipation Day. It will include Cup Match greetings from David Burt, the Premier, and Lovitta Foggo, the Minister of Community Affairs and Sport. Historical Mary Prince and Emancipation Day documentaries and lectures will also air. Bermemes and the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs are teaming up for Cup Match as part of the programming; Method Media will present cricket interviews.

• CITV’s Cup Match programming continues on Mary Prince Day with Cup Match Classic highlights from years gone by, interviews with past players and more documentaries and lectures.

• The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs will present the film Mary Prince and the Struggle for Freedom: A Talk by Dr Clarence V H Maxwell on www.communityandculture.bm

• Bermuda Red Cross will celebrate its 70th anniversary with a seven-hour live festival on YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, Periscope and www.bermudaredcross.com. Although the show is free, donations would be appreciated. Joy T. Barnum, Sia Spence, Last Call, Working Title, Heather Nova, Taylor Rankin, Mike Hind, Cindy Smith, Bones, Jesse Seymour, String Collective and the Simons Brothers are part of the all-Bermudian line-up.

• Non-Mariners Cruise featuring Jim Brown and DJ Sheep playing hip hop, reggae and soca. Boarding is at Dockyard on Lower Road by the America’s Cup Village. The new MV Longtail departs at noon, with pre-boarding from 11am to 11.30am. A mask and ID are required to get on board. There will be a cash bar and food for sale. For more information, call 517-6656.

All weekend
