Car hits utility pole in Warwick

No serious injuries were reported after a car struck a utility pole in Warwick today.

The single-vehicle crash happened on South Road, near Astwood Park, at about 5.30pm.

The driver of the vehicle — believed to be a 31-year-old Warwick man — as well as a woman and child travelling in the vehicle escaped serious injury, police said.

“Belco personnel attended the scene a short time later to repair the damaged utility pole which had blocked the entire width of the road,” police said in a release this evening.

As of 9pm, workers remained at the scene, with traffic diversions still in effect.

Anyone with information on the circumstances surrounding the crash should contact police on 295-0011.
