Police call for witnesses after fatal crash

Police have urged witnesses to come forward after Terry Simmons became the first road crash fatality this month.

The 62-year-old motorcyclist died when he crashed on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish near the junction with Radnor Road in the early hours of last Thursday.

“Officers are pursuing all available lines of enquiry to assist in determining what happened around 12:40am”, said a police spokesman.

“Witnesses that have not yet come forward, motorists or persons in the area around the time of the incident and those familiar with the whereabouts of Mr Simmons in the hours prior to 12.40am on Thursday, January 19, should contact Constable Lisa-Nichole Tucker on the main police telephone number 295-0011 with all relevant information.”

Meanwhile, police said a 37-year-old motorcyclist involved in a crash on Harrington Sound Road in Smith’s parish, near the junction with Broken Hill Road on January 19, has been discharged after receiving treatment in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

A 18-year-old Hamilton Parish man seriously injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car at the junction of North Shore Road and Store Hill in Smith’s parish on December 30 has been transferred from ICU to a general ward and is in stable condition.
