Panchaud takes over at the top
all remained unchanged following motocross action at Coney Island on Sunday.
Howard Paynter controlled the 80cc class with three first places. And though Steven Panchaud had to settle for three seconds, his 36 points for the day were enough to take him from two points behind former leader Sean DeSilva to an overall lead of 34 points.
DeSilva did not compete on Sunday as Treadwell Nesbitt placed third with two thirds and a fourth and Runeko Edwards fourth with two fourths and a third.
The 125 B class remains the most popular and the man who had the crowd on its feet at the weekend was Dowling Cycles' number one rider Robbie Smith who bounced back from the previous Sunday's loss to Aaron Pace to gain revenge with three wins.
Pace had to settle for three seconds while class leader Kemo Simons had his lead cut to 38 points by Smith after he could only manage two thirds and a fourth. Pace is just four points behind Smith in third place in the overall standings.
Smith is preparing to travel to Georgia for the Atlanta Supercross next month and is in the process of raising funds for the trip.
Jamel Hassell continues to make steady progress in the overall points standings in the 125 C class. After three more wins on Sunday he is now just 32 points behind leader Mark Hatherley who had three thirds. Carlston Burgess was second overall for the day with three seconds and is third overall.
Brandon DeSilva won the PW50 class again over Dwyre Blyden with three firsts compared to three seconds.
Aaron Cannonier had three wins in the 60cc class but was pressed by Garry Cann who put up a strong challenge to finish in second place with three seconds.
Third went to back-in-form Maurice Symons.
The Nationals reach the half-way point of their season this Sunday.
