Bermuda Energy Savers' unit can slash your bills, claims company
As the name suggests, Bermuda Energy Savers claims to slash homeowners' electric bills by between six to 12 percent and businesses' by 10 to 30 percent, according to sales representative Kevin Simmons.
The company, which was only formed two months ago, went into business to capture a niche in the energy saving market with the public becoming more environmentally conscious and wanting to cut down on their spending at the same time.
Its main product is the Energy Saver Unit, which costs from $1,600, depending on the size of the electricity system and its energy consumption. It uses a technology which has been around for some time but is new to Bermuda and is discreetly installed next to a breaker box within the building's power system.
Mr. Simmons claims that the unit enables the use of energy more efficiently throughout a home or office, particularly on motor-driven appliances, such as air conditioning units, computers, plasma screen televisions, refrigerators, dishwashers, garbage disposal units, microwaves, blenders, washing machines, dryers, vacuum cleaners, hair dryers and pool pumps, and even elevators, by storing excess supply sent from the grid and harnessing it to power the device the next time it is switched on.
"The more you use the greater the saving is," he said. "Or, in other words, the higher the electricity bill the more the saving is."
The device, which it is also claimed increases appliance life and provides surge protection, has a number of applications including hotels and resorts, insurance companies, law firms, grocery stores and supermarkets, having already been tested in several locations, and it can also be hooked up to a solar panel system, said Mr. Simmons. It also comes with a three-year warranty.
He said that the customer would get a return on their investment and start to realise some real savings on average between six months and one year down the line while the company was also planning to talk with Government about offering rebates for energy conservation in order to provide greater savings.
