David Bascome’s Baltimore Blast won their eighth championship in the Major Arena Soccer League at the weekend.

Blast won the first two games of their best-of-three series against Soles de Sorona — a Mexican team based in Hermosillo, the capital city of Sonora.

In the first game Blast won 7-4 in Baltimore before claiming victory in the second match 14-13 in a powerplay after the game finished tied after overtime.

Bascome, the Blast assistant coach, retired as a player for Blast in 2008.
