[/naviga:li][/naviga:ul]“We are excited as we are currently just over $2,100 and really hope the everyday athlete either makes a donation or thinks about setting higher goals for themselves by doing something healthy on leap day,” Ms Dill said.Judy Simons, the president of the BOA, said she was excited to see more qualifying Bermudians for the Rio Games and was hoping to bring one of the world’s greatest female athletes, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, to Bermuda for the association’s 80th anniversary gala in October. The three-time gold medal winner will potentially act as the keynote speaker and motivate youth and women, she said. Donations can be made per mile, with a 29.29 mile goal, or a flat donation amount.•To donate or take part in the Spin-a-thon classes, e-mail reception@bodyfit.bm or call 542-4444.
