Woman admits assault and uttering threats

A Devonshire woman will be sentenced in the new year for assaulting and uttering threatening words to another woman.

Appearing in Magistrates’ Court this morning, Vaughnika Joseph pleaded guilty to the offences, which took place in Hamilton Parish on November 1.

The court heard that the 27-year-old approached the complainant, who was with her daughter and partner, outside of the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo.

She demanded to know why the complainant had taken her money and slapped her twice in the face.

Joseph then told her that she would “f*** her up” every time she saw her and did not care if she was with her daughter.

During a police interview, Joseph admitted assaulting the woman but disputed what she had said.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered a social inquiry report, granted $1,000 bail and adjourned sentencing to January 28.
