Police are noticing an increase in counterfeit Bermuda $100 notes in circulation on the Island.They are advising businesses and individuals to be vigilant when conducting transactions ? especially if someone is attempting to use a Bermuda $100 bill to purchase less than $10 worth of goods or services.

They are advising businesses and individuals to be vigilant when conducting transactions ? especially if someone is attempting to use a Bermuda $100 bill to purchase less than $10 worth of goods or services.

To distinguish a genuine Bermuda $100 note from a counterfeit one, look for the tuna fish water mark and the reflective silver strip.

Police continued their heightened visibility over the weekend with officers strategically placed at locations throughout the Island resulting in the arrests of 28 people.

CCTV has also played a critical role in helping to identify key suspects involved in criminal activity, said a Police spokesman.

Over the weekend there were six people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and eight reported burglaries ? three in Hamilton Parish, one in Smith?s, three in Pembroke and one in Warwick.

There were also 18 reported damage-only road traffic collisions and nine reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury.

A burglar stole electrical goods and cash while his victim dozed in his Point Shares Road, Pembroke home on Sunday afternoon.

The complainant said between 3 p.m. and 6.10 p.m. the culprit gained entry into his home while he was asleep in his bedroom and stole a Sony 42 inch flat screen TV, a silver LG cellular phone, a silver DVD player and $20.

Police have noticed that several flat screen TVs and other electronic items including DVD players and laptop computers have been stolen during recent burglaries.

A Police spokesman said: ?We are advising members of the public to only purchase such items from reputable merchants.

?Anyone found in possession of stolen property may be prosecuted for receiving stolen property.?

Burglars made off with a 22-inch Sharp flat screen television in a Hamilton Parish house raid.

A digital cable box was also stolen from Lemon Grove Road at about 5.40 p.m. on Saturday.

Police would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating 17-year old Felicia Every and 14-year-old Tyneika Bean. They were found safe and well on Saturday after Police issued an alert on Wednesday last week.
